Sunday’s World Cup Final Half-Time Interval Expected to Stretch to 25 Minutes

Sunday’s World Cup final is expected to have a half-time break of up to 25 minutes to accommodate a star-studded 11-minute musical performance.

The upcoming World Cup final in New York New Jersey Stadium is set to feature an extended half-time interval, potentially lasting between 20 and 25 minutes. Organizers are planning an 11-minute performance, headlined by Madonna, Shakira, and BTS. While standard FIFA rules overseen by Ifab dictate that half-time intervals should not exceed 15 minutes, officials are considering extending the break to accommodate the elaborate show.

This scheduling follows a precedent set at last year’s Club World Cup final, also held in New Jersey, where the interval lasted 24 minutes to accommodate a multi-artist production. The performance lineup for Sunday has recently expanded to include Justin Bieber, Burna Boy, Gustavo Dudamel, and the PS22 Chorus, with music by Chris Martin. The match will begin at 15:00 local time, following a closing ceremony that features performers such as Tom Cruise, Laura Pausini, and Jennifer Hudson.

Spain secured their spot in the final after a 2-0 victory against France. They await the winner of the second semi-final between England and Argentina.
