Spain winger Yeremy Pino faces potential World Cup exit due to shoulder injury

Spain’s Yeremy Pino is expected to miss the rest of the World Cup after suffering a suspected broken collarbone during the win against Uruguay.

Yeremy Pino, who has earned 24 caps for Spain, is at risk of missing the remainder of the World Cup after suffering a potential broken collarbone. The injury occurred late in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Uruguay when the Crystal Palace player landed poorly on his left shoulder after a tackle.

Because Spain had already exhausted their allowed substitutes, Pino played through significant pain to finish the game. Spain coach Luis de la Fuente praised the winger’s effort, noting that playing on with such an injury was a heroic act. Further medical examinations are scheduled to confirm the severity of the damage, though a fracture would likely prevent him from participating in any upcoming knockout matches.

Spain finished at the top of Group H and is now preparing for a last-32 matchup in Los Angeles next Thursday against Austria or Algeria.
