The Independent National Electoral Commission has initiated the transport of sensitive voting supplies to all 30 local government areas within Osun State. This operation follows the upcoming gubernatorial race set for August 15, 2026.
Kunle Ajayi, the National Commissioner overseeing the Osun election, confirmed on Friday that the logistics process is underway at the Central Bank of Nigeria branch located in Osogbo. The delay in this rollout was caused by the late delivery of revised ballot papers and related documents from Abuja.
These changes were necessary after the Social Democratic Party was recently cleared to participate in the contest. On Wednesday, the commission officially added SDP candidate Francis Ajala and his deputy, Faseke Oladipo, to the roster. This update increased the total count of participating political parties to 15. To accommodate the late inclusion, both ballot papers and official result sheets required immediate reprinting.
