Solomon Dalung Identifies Government Figures for Accountability in PFIPC Controversy

Former minister Solomon Dalung calls for an investigation into key Nigerian government officials, including Femi Gbajabiamila, over the PFIPC scandal.

Solomon Dalung, the former Minister of Youth and Sports Development, has demanded that several high-ranking officials face scrutiny regarding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. Speaking during a recent appearance on Channels Television, Dalung asserted that anyone involved in the events that brought shame to Nigeria must be thoroughly investigated.

His list of individuals who should be held accountable includes President Bola Tinubu, Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, and National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. Furthermore, he included the heads of the Department of State Services, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and the Central Bank of Nigeria in his assessment.

The controversy stems from claims made by Adeyemi, who alleged that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila accepted N400 million and requested another N200 million to facilitate an appointment. While the Presidency has denied these accusations, stating that the Chief of Staff lacks the authority to make such appointments, Dalung maintains that Gbajabiamila is the primary suspect. He argued that it is implausible for businessman Adeniyi to have accessed the Presidential Villa without the direct authorization of the Chief of Staff, given the strict security protocols in place. Dalung emphasized that any investigation failing to scrutinize the Chief of Staff’s office is inherently compromised.
