Zamfara Auditor General Confirms Governor Lawal’s Projects Are Delivering Results

Zamfara State Auditor General Abubakar Damaligi reports that Governor Dauda Lawal’s investments in infrastructure and social services are yielding positive results, as highlighted during a new performance audit training program.

Abubakar Damaligi, the Auditor General of Zamfara State, stated that Governor Dauda Lawal’s strategic spending in healthcare, education, farming, and infrastructure is successfully improving the state. He shared these observations during a training session held for personnel at the State Audit Office.

This initiative, organized by the Paradigm Leadership Support Initiative (PLSI) in collaboration with the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation, focuses on performance auditing. The goal is to ensure that public money yields clear, beneficial outcomes for the public. Damaligi noted that these audits will highlight the actual progress achieved by the governor’s administration across vital sectors.

Segun Elemo, the Executive Director of PLSI, explained that performance audits are essential for verifying that government spending translates into tangible gains, such as lower maternal mortality rates and higher school attendance. Dr. Clement Ojile, representing the Office of the Auditor General for the Federation, emphasized that while financial balance is important, the true measure of governance is whether public funds genuinely improve the standard of living for the average citizen.
