Six inmates freed from Ilorin custodial centre by Kwara Chief Judge

Kwara State Chief Judge, Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, released six inmates from the Ilorin custodial centre to reduce facility congestion and ensure judicial efficiency.

Justice Abiodun Ayodele Adebara, the Chief Judge of Kwara State, authorized the immediate release of six prisoners on Tuesday during a routine inspection at the old Ilorin custodial facility. This initiative serves the judiciary’s goal of preventing legal delays and ensuring that individuals lacking valid justification for detention are freed.

During the event, Justice Adebara encouraged the former inmates to lead law-abiding lives and become productive members of their communities. He stressed the importance of avoiding future criminal involvement. Muyiwa Omole, the Assistant Controller of Corrections in charge of the facility, praised the visit as a meaningful way to alleviate prison overcrowding and improve management efficiency. He further pledged the Nigerian Correctional Service’s continued support for the state’s criminal justice processes.

Kwara State Controller of Corrections Tolorunshagba Femi Emmanuel also lauded the Chief Judge for his consistent efforts to reduce inmate numbers. He noted that such cooperation between the judiciary and correctional authorities is vital for the swift administration of justice. The service remains focused on its mission to provide secure custody, reform inmates, and prepare them for a successful return to society, as guided by Controller General Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche.
