A total of seven countries have now confirmed their places in the intercontinental play-offs for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. Ghana and South Africa secured their positions on Thursday after defeating Ivory Coast and Nigeria in their respective qualifying matches.
These two nations will compete against a field that includes Chinese Taipei, Uzbekistan, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Papua New Guinea during the opening round. Only two of these participating teams will successfully advance to the next phase.
The survivors will then meet four additional teams from UEFA, OFC, and CONMEBOL, which received direct entry into the final play-off stage. FIFA will organize these six remaining squads into three distinct paths. Each path features a single knockout game, and the winners of these three matches will claim the final spots in the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
