Six African Nations Advance to 2026 World Cup Knockout Stage

Six African teams have confirmed their entry into the 2026 World Cup Round of 32, with Ghana and Cape Verde being the latest qualifiers.

Half of the ten African teams competing in the 2026 World Cup have successfully advanced to the Round of 32. Ghana and Cape Verde secured their positions following matches held on Saturday.

Even though Ghana has a remaining group stage match against Croatia, the national team has mathematically qualified due to Spain’s narrow victory over Uruguay. Meanwhile, Cape Verde earned their spot by finishing as the runner-up in their group after recording three straight draws.

These two nations join Morocco, Egypt, Cote d’Ivoire, and South Africa, who had already locked in their places in the next round. Conversely, Tunisia has been knocked out of the competition. Senegal, DR Congo, and Algeria are currently awaiting results to determine if they can progress as top-performing third-place finishers.
