Senator Maidoki Claims Retaliation by Governor Idris Over Insecurity Complaints

Senator Garba Maidoki claims Governor Nasir Idris began victimizing him after he spoke out about the surge in bandit attacks in Kebbi South.

Senator Garba Maidoki, the representative for Kebbi South, has charged Governor Nasir Idris with targeting him for highlighting the escalating security crisis within his district. Maidoki disclosed these grievances to reporters after moving from the All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress inside the Senate chamber.

The lawmaker stated that he feels no remorse for abandoning the APC. He argued that his public statements regarding bandit violence were necessary to protect his constituents. He explained that his rapport with the governor suffered once he formally requested federal help for Kebbi State during a Senate session.

Maidoki insisted that he was not attacking the governor personally but was simply fulfilling his duty to bring the state’s security struggles to national attention. He remains committed to prioritizing his constituents’ well-being and securing government support for the region.

Looking ahead, the senator is optimistic about his shift to the ADC, believing his base in Kebbi South will support his 2027 reelection bid. He also warned that local political figures from Kebbi Central should refrain from interfering in the political affairs of his own district.
