Governor Ademola Adeleke has designated Friday, August 14, as a non-working day for public employees in Osun State. This initiative, announced through a circular from Head of Service Elder Ayanleye Aina, is designed to give staff the time needed to travel and prepare for the upcoming governorship poll on Saturday.
While the holiday applies to the general workforce, personnel in essential and emergency sectors are exempted. Governor Adeleke encouraged civil servants to turn out in high numbers and safeguard their ballots. He also requested that government staff engage with artisans and professional groups to promote active civic participation.
In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor emphasized the importance of defending democratic rights. He urged the workforce to protect the progress made during his three-and-a-half-year tenure, stressing that the administration has consistently supported labour interests and must prevent a return to previous administrations.
