Senator Eteng Williams, representing Cross River Central, has formally denied reports that he dropped his legal challenge against Oden Ewa regarding the APC senatorial ticket. Although Cross River State Deputy Governor, Dr. Peter Odey, stated on Monday that a reconciliation meeting organized by Governor Bassey Otu successfully resolved the dispute, Williams’ camp maintains that the litigation remains active.
Speaking on behalf of the senator, Emmanuel Ikpi characterized the claims of a settlement as misleading propaganda. He insisted that the court case in the Abuja High Court is ongoing and that the reconciliation meeting was merely an preliminary discussion rather than a binding agreement. Ikpi argued that the nomination process for the APC ticket failed to comply with the Electoral Act, making the legal challenge necessary.
Furthermore, the senator dismissed social media images showing him standing alongside Oden Ewa as evidence of an agreement. He clarified that those photographs originated from a different event in 2025 and were being used to manufacture a false narrative of unity. This ongoing standoff continues to highlight significant internal tensions within the APC in the Cross River Central district.
