Sumner Sambo, the News Director and Political Editor at Arise Television, has advised opposition parties to demonstrate genuine capability as they prepare for the 2027 general elections. He shared these insights during his appearance on the channel’s Morning Show program on Monday.
His comments followed the recent Ekiti State gubernatorial race, in which the Independent National Electoral Commission officially named incumbent Abiodun Oyebanji as the winner. Sambo emphasized that the election results suggest opposition groups have significant ground to cover if they want to be competitive.
Reflecting on the Ekiti contest, Sambo pointed out that the opposition failed to put up a strong showing. He highlighted a notable disparity between recent results and the highly competitive nature of the 2018 and 2022 elections, questioning why the current political environment yielded such different outcomes.
