Salihu Lukman, a key figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), recently stated that the G100 coalition was established to push leaders to address the needs of the Nigerian public. He shared these insights during an appearance on the Arise Television ‘Morning Show’ on Tuesday.
The G100 represents a unified front of opposition politicians aiming to field a single presidential contender. This strategy is designed to effectively challenge President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2027 polls. Lukman emphasized that the group intends to provide a stronger alternative to voters.
Addressing the coalition’s role, Lukman clarified that the G100 acts as a facilitator rather than a governing body for opposition leaders. He noted that their purpose is to help leaders reach a consensus on national priorities. The goal is to prove to the citizenry that the opposition is approaching the upcoming election with genuine seriousness.
While acknowledging the difficulties involved, Lukman expressed optimism regarding the progress of their discussions. He stressed that the coalition’s primary commitment is to prioritize the interests of Nigeria above individual political ambitions.
