The Traditional Rulers Council of Bende South State Constituency, known as Ikwuisi, has officially endorsed Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, for a third term. Led by Eze Uchendu Okorie, the council rejected narratives suggesting that the Bende Federal Constituency seat is governed by a zoning rotation policy.
Eze Okorie, representing the royal council, praised Kalu for his legislative success and his ability to bring federal infrastructure projects to the region. He stated that the monarchies are unified in their support, arguing that Kalu’s performance in office makes him the most capable candidate. According to the council, any opposition against Kalu is effectively an opposition against the efficiency and progress he has delivered.
Eze P.C. Onyegbu clarified that no formal zoning agreement exists for the Bende seat. He highlighted that Kalu has outpaced all previous representatives in project delivery and strategic governance. Another traditional ruler, Eze Patrick Udeh, noted that Kalu has elevated the profile of both Bende and the South-East region through his national leadership position.
In his response, Kalu thanked the monarchs for their backing. He credited his achievements to the community’s trust and pledged to continue prioritizing infrastructure, health, and economic empowerment for his constituents. He vowed to keep pursuing developmental initiatives if returned to office in 2027.
