Rufai Oseni Criticizes Onanuga Over Double Standards Regarding Obi’s Resignation Call

Rufai Oseni of Arise News challenged Bayo Onanuga’s criticism of Peter Obi, reminding the public that the APC previously demanded the resignation of Goodluck Jonathan and once threatened to form a parallel government.

Arise News host Rufai Oseni has publicly criticized Bayo Onanuga, a media aide to President Bola Tinubu, for his recent disparaging remarks directed at Peter Obi, the 2027 presidential hopeful for the Nigerian Democratic Congress. Onanuga had labeled Obi’s suggestion that President Tinubu resign due to persistent economic and security issues as immature.

Addressing these comments on air, Oseni highlighted the historical hypocrisy of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He pointed out that the APC itself demanded former President Goodluck Jonathan step down prior to the 2015 election. Furthermore, Oseni recalled that the APC had even proposed the formation of a parallel government during that period, an act he categorized as a move toward anarchy.

Oseni argued that the current administration is failing to resolve the same types of national crises that the APC used to justify its own past hostility toward the previous government. He questioned why the ruling party views a simple call for resignation as puerile when it once employed far more radical tactics to gain power.
