Hundreds of women in Rivers State took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Monday in a peaceful march supporting the recent declaration of a state of emergency in the state.
Dressed in white attire symbolising peace and unity, the women convened at the Garrison Bus Stop in the city centre as early as 8 a.m. to kick off the rally. Their demonstration was aimed at drawing attention to pressing issues affecting the state and urging swift action from authorities.
At the time of filing this report, the women were seen chanting solidarity songs and expressing their support for the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), as they marched along Aba Road. Their procession was steadily advancing toward the government house in Port Harcourt, drawing attention from bystanders and passersby.

It’s worth recalling that just last week, hundreds of women under the banner of Rivers Women for Sim held a protest to oppose the declaration of a state of emergency and the suspension of Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Their demonstration reflected a sharp divide in public sentiment, underscoring the ongoing political tensions in the state.
