Lagos Police Chief Bans Covered Number Plates And Unregistered Vehicles in Lagos
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Jimoh Olohundare, has officially banned the practice of covering vehicle license plates and the use of unregistered automobiles across the state.
During a press briefing on Monday, March 9, the CP also cautioned motorists against using window tints that obstruct the view through the front and side windshields.
These enforcement measures follow a recent high-level summit where Inspector-General of Police Disu Olatunji mandated a return to fundamental policing principles and stricter vehicle regulations to bolster regional security.
Beyond traffic enforcement, the Commissioner emphasized a renewed focus on officer discipline, human rights, and community-oriented policing.
The new directives require police leadership to exercise closer supervision of personnel to prevent misconduct and ensure that all operations align with international best practices.
CP Olohundare noted that the command is prioritizing specialized training in crime prevention and expects officers to engage more transparently with the public to address local security concerns effectively.
