The Rivers State administration has pledged its full cooperation to the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) as the agency initiates a statewide data verification project. Governor Siminalayi Fubara conveyed this commitment while welcoming the RMAFC team to the Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The visiting delegation aims to refresh existing records and evaluate the fiscal data essential for optimizing revenue distribution. Kenneth Lekue, the state Commissioner for Finance, emphasized that the government fully grasps the significance of this task for future budget planning and funding allocations. Authorities have already established systems to ensure the visiting officials obtain precise, primary source data.
Furthermore, officials confirmed that the region is secure, encouraging the team to conduct their work without hesitation. The process will include meetings with key stakeholders and a review of how public funds are deployed across local government areas. Ambassador Desmond Akawor, representing Rivers State on the Commission, is part of the visiting delegation. The RMAFC serves as the national body tasked with overseeing Federation Account disbursements and upholding fiscal transparency.
