With the Osun State governorship election approaching this weekend, the All Farmers of Nigeria (AFAN) has officially declared its support for Governor Ademola Adeleke. The group cited the governor’s supportive policies toward the agricultural sector as the primary reason for their decision.
According to a statement released by Olawale Rasheed, the governor’s spokesperson, the administration has provided farmers with new tractors, finished the farmers’ secretariat, and distributed various crop seedlings including cocoa, cashew, and palm oil. Moshood Adepoju, speaking for AFAN, highlighted that the group felt neglected under the previous APC administration. He also claimed that APC members attempted to pressure them by arresting their leadership, a charge the party denies.
The Butchers Association of Osun State has also joined the call for the governor’s re-election. State Chairman Amoo Afeez expressed that the membership intends to support the governor due to his broad achievements across the state. During a gathering organized by Commissioner for Agriculture Tola Faseru, members unanimously voted to back the incumbent.
Governor Adeleke thanked the groups for their support. He promised that if re-elected, his administration would continue to supply machinery and inputs, while also establishing new processing facilities to further boost local agriculture.
