Principal Details Tragic 56-Day Kidnapping Ordeal in Oyo

Community High School principal Alamu Folawe recounts the 56-day struggle of her abduction, detailing the psychological abuse and the tragic loss of two colleagues at the hands of their kidnappers.

Mrs. Alamu Folawe, the principal of Community High School in Ahoro-Esiele, has shared the harrowing details of her 56-day captivity following her abduction alongside teachers and students. During an event where the Nigerian Army handed over the survivors to Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, she described the experience as a constant struggle against fear and the threat of execution.

Reflecting on the timeline, she noted that what started as a typical Friday on May 15 turned into a nightmare that lasted nearly two months in the wilderness. Folawe explained that their captors used psychological warfare to break them down, frequently claiming that the government had disregarded their plight and abandoned them to their fate.

Despite these demoralizing tactics, the victims maintained their resolve through the belief that the public was praying for their safe return. Folawe revealed the brutality of their captors, confirming that the gunmen executed two of their colleagues to exert pressure on the government to comply with their demands.
