President Bola Tinubu has described the 50-year milestone of Benue State as a testament to the community’s perseverance, innovation, and courage. Representing the President at the Makurdi celebration, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila highlighted that the state’s founding in 1976 underscores Nigeria’s dedication to equity and growth.
Reflecting on the past five decades, the President noted that Benue has established itself as a vital pillar of the nation, widely recognized as the food basket of Nigeria. He honored the legacy of founding figures such as the late Joseph Sarwuan Tarka, alongside all former leaders and citizens who contributed to the state’s progress.
Tinubu praised Governor Hyacinth Alia for his efforts in governance, peacebuilding, and infrastructural advancement. He reaffirmed that the Federal Government intends to collaborate closely with the state to resolve security issues, modernize the agricultural sector, and foster economic expansion. During the visit, the President officially opened the Bensono Fruit Processing Plant.
Encouraging the youth to pursue innovation, Tinubu urged them to channel their education and skills into creating new industries and businesses. He called for collective unity and peace, expressing optimism that the state’s future will build upon its previous successes through hard work and faith.
