President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emphasized that fostering communication between different religious groups is essential for resolving Nigeria’s security crises and building lasting peace. He shared this perspective during a meeting in Abuja with Archbishop Paul R. Gallagher, who serves as the Vatican’s Secretary for Relations with States and International Organisations.
The President committed his administration to ongoing collaboration with faith leaders to encourage national harmony. He specifically called on both Christian and Muslim clergy to prioritize messages of tolerance, noting that the nation can never possess too much peace. He also expressed gratitude for the efforts already being made by religious figures to support stability.
Regarding national safety, Tinubu noted that the military has gained ground against criminal factions. The government is now increasing funding for surveillance and security infrastructure in remote regions. Furthermore, he highlighted investments in youth development programs as a strategy to prevent individuals from being swayed by extremist groups.
