The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned that the administration of President Bola Tinubu must accept total responsibility should any harm befall former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai while he is in state custody.
Bolaji Abdullahi, the National Publicity Secretary for the ADC, expressed this stance during an appearance on Symfoni TV. He argued that the current detention of El-Rufai is driven by political motives rather than legitimate legal or judicial concerns.
According to Abdullahi, the government’s refusal to allow the court to handle the matter suggests a calculated effort to exclude El-Rufai from the political process. He alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress aims to weaken the opposition by keeping the former governor detained. Abdullahi further noted that El-Rufai had previously been a vocal supporter of President Tinubu during his rise to power, even when others in the cabinet of former President Muhammadu Buhari were opposed to him.
