Residents in segments of Abia State now have access to electricity once again after enduring a blackout that lasted over a week. Aba Power announced the development via a statement on X this past Saturday.
The region had been without consistent energy since July 29, when a gas shortage hindered the operations of Geometric Aba Power Limited. The company confirmed that gas flow to their turbines started again after Heirs Energies, their supplier, finished fixing broken infrastructure.
According to the official announcement, Geometric Power Aba Limited has restarted its turbines. Consequently, the utility is now gradually reconnecting customers to the grid based on current generation levels. Aba Power serves nine of the 17 local government areas within the state. Meanwhile, Governor Alex Otti pledged last Thursday to implement solar energy solutions to address the state’s ongoing electricity reliability issues.
