First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu received the title of Grand Matron of the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) during an event held at the State House in Abuja. During the investiture, she emphasized the importance of engaging young people in voluntary service to foster a culture of altruism early in life.
Senator Tinubu described her new role as a mandate for increased public service. She encouraged citizens to support those in need, highlighting the resilience of the nation in overcoming obstacles when supported by strong political will. She noted that her office is currently addressing child malnutrition through the newly launched National Food Bank Programme, which operates across all six geopolitical zones.
NRCS National President Prince Oluyemisi Adeaga praised the First Lady for her ongoing humanitarian contributions via the Renewed Hope Initiative. He highlighted that the society, which comprises over 1.5 million volunteers, has functioned as the primary public humanitarian service provider in Nigeria since its establishment in 1960.
