Tragedy struck on Sunday, November 2, when a light aircraft crashed at Sherburn Aero Club near Leeds, claiming the life of the pilot.
Emergency services rushed to the scene just before 1 p.m. after the aircraft crash-landed on the runway at the popular flight club in Sherburn, North Yorkshire.
Eyewitness Liz Crossley, who was at the airfield with her family, described the horrifying moment the plane spiraled out of control.
“It took off and went almost vertical, then turned to the side before nosediving straight into the ground,” she told Metro. “It was only up about 200 feet when it came crashing back down. They called the emergency services immediately, and lots of police came.”
