Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson has expressed his gratitude for the club’s invitation to return to the United States for a high-profile pre-season tour. The squad is scheduled to fly out this week, where they will test themselves against Premier League heavyweights Leeds United, Liverpool, and Sunderland.
Driven by the global visibility provided by owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mac, alongside the success of the Welcome to Wrexham documentary, the club has drawn massive crowds during previous American visits. Parkinson emphasized that the team does not take these high-caliber opportunities for granted, noting that securing such fixtures has become increasingly difficult due to scheduling around the World Cup.
The tour itinerary begins on July 26 in Tampa against Leeds United, followed by a match against Liverpool in New York four days later. The series concludes on August 2 in Philadelphia—the hometown of Rob Mac—against Sunderland. This trip marks a return to American soil after the team spent their 2025 pre-season in Australia and New Zealand.
Parkinson highlighted that while the experience is special for the players and their families, the primary objective remains rigorous training and preparation. Regarding team fitness, striker Ryan Hardie will stay behind due to a thigh injury. However, Ryan Longman is expected to return to full training while abroad, and Elliot Lee will join the traveling squad to focus on his recovery and conditioning, with hopes of participating in the second fixture.
