Reports from Sky Sports suggest that a verbal agreement is already in place. Maresca is anticipated to arrive in Manchester shortly to finalize a three-year deal. This move marks a return to the Etihad Stadium for the Italian, who served as an assistant to Guardiola during the club’s 2023 treble-winning season.
City entered into financial negotiations with Chelsea because Maresca still had over three years left on his contract when he departed Stamford Bridge earlier this year. Neither club has provided an official statement regarding the situation.
Maresca, who has been without a role since his departure from Chelsea, enjoyed significant success there, including winning the UEFA Conference League and FIFA Club World Cup.
