Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has clarified why he chose Rabiu Kwankwaso, the head of the Kwankwassiyya Movement, as his vice-presidential partner. During an interview with Sun, Obi stated that the former Kano State governor was selected primarily for his commitment to lifting citizens out of poverty.
Obi emphasized that the two men share a common vision for economic revitalization aimed at improving the standard of living for Nigerians. He highlighted their mutual focus on education as a foundational tool for societal transformation. According to Obi, they both prioritize human capital development to drive national progress.
Furthermore, Obi rejected rumors of friction between them. He confirmed that they continue to work in harmony while preparing their strategy for the upcoming January 2027 elections.
