Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), recently praised former US President Donald Trump, labeling him the most effective politician he has encountered. Speaking at a gala in Washington, D.C., the cleric noted that he holds Trump in high regard primarily because the American leader consistently fulfills his campaign pledges, a trait he finds rare among political figures.
While clarifying that he does not necessarily endorse every policy or action taken by Trump, Adeboye emphasized that he appreciates the President’s transparency regarding his intentions. He highlighted that unlike many career politicians who often offer contradictory messages to appeal to different sides, Trump maintains a predictable pattern of taking action exactly as he says he will.
Reflecting on international relations, Adeboye recalled a period when he was concerned about potential US military intervention in Nigeria due to security failures. He explained that he advocated for diplomatic engagement rather than military strikes, as he feared collateral damage to innocent citizens. The pastor urged Nigerian authorities to negotiate a grace period with the US while simultaneously tasking local military leaders with ending domestic terrorism.
Furthermore, Adeboye addressed the current security situation in Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu. He cautioned against blaming the President directly for ongoing unrest, arguing that once a leader issues directives to security forces, they have fulfilled their primary duty. He compared this to Trump’s own governance style, noting that a Commander-in-Chief delegates tactical operations to subordinates rather than engaging in combat personally.
