Oyo Kidnapping: Nigerian Senate Allocates N50 Million to Relatives of Fallen Educators and Soldiers

The Senate has approved a N50 million relief package for the families of two teachers and three soldiers killed during an abduction rescue operation in Oyo State.

The Nigerian Senate has authorized a payment of N50 million to support the families of five people who were killed during a kidnapping incident in the Oriire local government area of Oyo State. This group included both teachers and military personnel.

During Wednesday’s plenary session, Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed the donation, framing the loss of life as a difficult price paid in the broader effort to combat national instability. Akpabio praised the Armed Forces and security services for their persistence in liberating the captives after they had been held for nearly eight weeks.

The financial aid will be distributed as N10 million to each of the families of the two teachers executed by the kidnappers and the three soldiers who perished while conducting the rescue mission. Akpabio noted that the Senate intends for this contribution to assist the grieving families while honoring the service of those who lost their lives.
