The Nigeria Police Mobile Force Training College in Ila-Orangun, Osun State, has scheduled a standard operational shooting drill for its personnel. DSP Abiodun Ojelabi, the state command spokesperson, confirmed in Osogbo that this exercise is part of a firearms proficiency programme.
The training will occur on Friday, 17 July 2026, from 6:00am to 6:00pm at the college shooting range within the local forest camp. Authorities intend this activity to refine the tactical skills and professional standards of the Mobile Police officers.
To maintain public safety, officials have asked residents, hunters, and farmers to keep clear of the shooting range area during the event. The police also urged the public not to be alarmed by the sound of gunfire, noting that the session will follow strict safety protocols.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Anietie Eyoh, the college commandant, emphasized that the drill is strictly for educational purposes and presents no danger to civilians. He thanked the local community for their ongoing support and cooperation with the police force.
