A splinter group within the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party, headed by former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has formally announced its support for Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress candidate, ahead of the upcoming gubernatorial election. The event, held at the WOCDIF Event Centre in Osogbo, included key political figures such as Fatai Akinbade and Taju Oladipo.
Oyinlola emphasized that despite supporting the APC candidate, his group remains committed to the PDP. He explained that the decision stems from a priority for the state’s welfare over strict party allegiance. The former governor criticized the current administration for excluding key stakeholders, noting that the lack of inclusive governance was a primary reason for the rift.
Addressing the supporters, Oyinlola stated that his team understands the political history and needs of Osun State better than most. In response, Oyebamiji promised that his administration would prioritize inclusivity and incorporate the wisdom and experience of diverse leaders if he wins the election. Wole Oke, the Director-General of the APC Campaign Council, encouraged the PDP faction members to actively mobilize support for Oyebamiji at the ward and local levels.
