The Osun State division of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has confirmed the mobilization of 10,000 officers for the upcoming governorship election this Saturday. State Commandant Igbalawole Sotiyo issued a clear instruction to these officers to uphold professional standards and remain strictly neutral while performing their duties.
During a planning session in Osogbo, Commandant Sotiyo emphasized that the conduct of the force will reflect on the integrity of the agency. He stressed the importance of protecting human rights and following established protocols. The operation will be overseen by the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, to ensure a coordinated security effort.
Sotiyo reminded all commanders that the Corps is a non-partisan entity tasked with safeguarding public infrastructure and maintaining order. Officers were directed to treat voters with respect and ensure a secure environment free from intimidation. The command is also coordinating with other security partners to guarantee a smooth electoral process. Finally, members of the public are encouraged to assist by reporting any suspicious actions to the authorities throughout the election period.
