The Osun Development Association (ODA), an organization representing Osun State indigenes living abroad, has announced that all gubernatorial candidates will participate in a formal peace accord. This initiative aims to maintain stability and prevent potential unrest throughout the upcoming election period.
Key political figures scheduled to participate include the incumbent and Accord Party candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke; Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress; Olanrewaju Farinloye from the Action Alliance; Najeem Salaam representing the African Democratic Congress; and Esan Olajide of the African Action Congress, alongside other contenders.
Dr. Tunji Olugbodi, who heads the ODA’s Leadership and Governance Committee, stated that the state is facing a pivotal moment for its democracy. The organization is hosting a summit titled “Speak, Choose, Hold Accountable: Citizens at the Centre of Osun’s Democracy” in Osogbo to encourage peaceful conduct. The event is intended to shift the political climate toward constructive, issue-based discussions rather than conflict.
By bringing various stakeholders together, the ODA hopes to establish a positive example for credible and orderly voting across the nation. ODA Chairman Dr. Segun Aina emphasized that broad collaboration is essential for the success of the 2026 electoral process.
