Soldiers under the command of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully repelled suspected bandits in the Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in the recovery of 147 stolen animals. Security analyst Bakatsine reported the operation via social media on Wednesday, noting that the military intercepted the criminals while they were transporting the livestock.
The confrontation led the bandits to abandon their cargo and retreat. Authorities successfully retrieved 101 cows, 44 sheep, and two camels, along with three motorcycles left behind by the perpetrators. These animals have since been returned to their original owners. In a separate event earlier that week, Bakatsine documented raids on the villages of Kaura, Wanke, Sage, Marake, and Aggur, also within Shagari. During those assaults, villagers reported that attackers wounded multiple residents, including two individuals who sustained gunshot injuries to their legs and were subsequently hospitalized at Shagari General Hospital.
