Six ISWAP militants and their relatives have handed themselves over to Nigerian security forces during recent military activities in Borno State. Lt. Col. Mohammed Goni, representing Operation Hadin Kai, stated on Thursday that these individuals escaped from camps in the Mandara Mountains within Gwoza.
Military personnel remain active across the North-East, utilizing intelligence and tactical maneuvers to disrupt extremist groups. The 115 Task Force Battalion successfully freed two captives in Askira/Uba on July 7, while also seizing over one million naira and various supplies. Recovered items from the surrendering group included cash, mobile devices, and essential goods.
Security measures at the Molai checkpoint led to the detention of a logistics provider carrying unauthorized medical cargo. Additionally, a fierce clash occurred at the Logomani Forward Operating Base in Ngala. Although insurgents managed to breach the perimeter temporarily, soldiers launched a counter-offensive that drove them back. Sadly, one soldier was killed, and equipment was damaged during the battle. Reinforcements have since arrived to bolster defenses.
Further operations saw the apprehension of an individual in Gombi, Adamawa State, with an AK-47, as well as the arrest of two logistics suppliers in Mobbar. In Wulgo, troops and the Civilian Joint Task Force discovered abandoned illicit narcotics. Military officials emphasized that these missions will persist until all hostages are recovered and warned the public against providing any form of aid to insurgent networks.
