Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo, widely known as Sunday Igboho, has announced a forthcoming security summit for South West monarchs as the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, pledged his support for the newly formed Iru Ekun Security Network. The Ooni contributed N100 million and a Toyota Hilux to bolster the operations of the security group.
Igboho, who officially launched the network in Osogbo, Osun State, stated that the upcoming summit in Ile Ife will gather traditional rulers to discuss regional security and unity. He lauded the Ooni’s contribution as a significant boost to community-based protection efforts, noting that traditional leaders are vital to maintaining regional stability.
The activist emphasized that the group intends to eliminate threats such as kidnappings, sexual violence, and attacks on farmers, while working alongside established law enforcement agencies. He added that the initiative has gained traction among various influential figures who support the goal of a safer society.
During a meeting at his palace, the Ooni of Ife praised Igboho’s bravery and dedication to the region. Oba Ogunwusi stressed that safeguarding lives is a collective duty that exists beyond political or religious boundaries. He called on prominent Yoruba individuals, community leaders, and business professionals worldwide to provide support for the Iru Ekun Security Network.
