Omoyele Sowore Urges Nigerian Authorities to Prioritize Aviation Safety Following Enugu Air Incident

AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore is calling for increased attention to aviation safety after an Enugu Air aircraft veered off the runway at Benin Airport.

Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate for the African Action Congress, has called on the federal government and aviation regulators to improve safety standards within the industry. His comments follow a Thursday incident at Benin Airport where an Enugu Air plane slid off the runway upon landing.

Enugu Air acknowledged the event, confirming that their aircraft underwent a runway excursion after touchdown. The airline assured the public that all passengers and crew members exited the plane without injury. The company stated that it is cooperating with aviation authorities to investigate the cause of the mishap while ensuring the aircraft is secured.

Sharing his thoughts on X, Sowore expressed concern for those aboard the flight. He stressed that aviation security and strict adherence to regulations should be mandatory, noting that there is zero tolerance for negligence when human lives are at risk.
