Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Lagos ADC governorship candidate, has announced the death of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the African Democratic Congress candidate for the Lagos State governorship, has confirmed the passing of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour. He shared the news via his personal X account on Monday.

In a formal announcement, the family honored the late Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour—born Waboso—as a dedicated wife, parent, and grandmother. They highlighted her life as a reflection of selflessness and empathy, calling her the personification of love. The family expressed gratitude for her time on earth while mourning her departure.

Olawale Rhodes-Vivour released the statement on behalf of the family, noting that information regarding her burial will be shared later. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour offered prayers for his mother to rest in peace. Having run in the 2023 election under the Labour Party banner, Rhodes-Vivour recently became the official ADC gubernatorial nominee for the upcoming 2027 race after winning the party primary in May 2026.
