Nigerian Railway Corporation pauses Kajola-Apapa route for maintenance

The NRC will suspend its Kajola-Apapa passenger train operations from July 6 to July 27 to conduct essential maintenance on locomotives and coaches.

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) is halting its Kajola-Apapa passenger rail operations for a three-week period to perform required maintenance on its rolling stock and locomotives. NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, announced the update on the agency’s official X account this Tuesday.

The service hiatus is scheduled to begin on July 6 and conclude on July 27, with the final passenger trip taking place on July 3. Dr. Opeifa clarified that freight transport to and from the Apapa Port Complex and other terminals on both narrow and standard gauge tracks will remain operational.

While the Kajola-Apapa route is closed, commuters are encouraged to utilize the Lagos Mass Transit Train services, which run weekdays between Ijoko, Kajola, and Iddo. Dr. Opeifa apologized for the disruption, emphasizing that these maintenance efforts are essential to maintain the safety and efficiency of the rail network.
