Nigerian Navy Disrupts Pipeline Sabotage Ring and Seizes Stolen Assets in Imo

The Nigerian Navy intercepted stolen crude oil pipeline segments in Imo State, arresting two suspects and reinforcing its commitment to protecting national energy infrastructure.

As part of an ongoing mission to combat economic sabotage, the Nigerian Navy has successfully intercepted stolen crude oil pipeline segments and captured members of a criminal syndicate operating in the Oguta area of Imo State. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Information, confirmed that officers from the Oguta Naval Base executed an intelligence-driven mission that led to the discovery of a Mercedes truck. This vehicle was transporting 10 pieces of pipeline, which investigators believe were illicitly stripped from the Addax Petroleum network near the Osu–Obodo Road.

Authorities arrested two men during the operation. One individual was caught while guarding the stolen items, and a second suspect was captured during subsequent investigations. The Navy is continuing its search for additional syndicate members currently evading capture. By blocking the removal of these stolen materials, the military has successfully protected essential national infrastructure. This action highlights the Navy’s dedication to securing the nation’s energy assets and preventing illegal oil activities through targeted, intelligence-led enforcement. The service continues to coordinate with other security agencies to dismantle criminal networks and bolster economic security.
