A joint mission involving the Nigerian Army and the Civilian Joint Task Force successfully stopped three individuals suspected of being terrorists in the Konduga region of Borno State. Security analyst Zagazola Makama confirmed the incident via a social media post on Saturday.
Soldiers from the 73 Battalion conducted the operation near Kayamla. The three men claimed they were former fighters currently enrolled in the Bulumkutu Rehabilitation Centre and were merely traveling to work on their farms.
During the stop, security forces discovered two rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammunition on one of the men. As the operation unfolded, this individual tried to flee but was killed by the troops. The remaining two suspects were taken into military custody. Authorities also seized a bicycle, containers of herbicide, and several personal items as the investigation continues.
