Nigeria’s administration has officially designated the 750-kilometre Lagos-Calabar coastal road in honour of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. David Umahi, the Minister of Works, announced this decision during a press event held on Thursday.
Umahi explained that the project originated from a vision the President first developed approximately 27 years ago. Exercising his ministerial authority, Umahi noted that the decision was reached following consultations with key ministry staff and officials. The minister stated that this naming recognizes the President’s long-standing aspiration.
With a projected total cost of N15 trillion, the infrastructure project stands as a significant legacy initiative for the current administration. While one segment of the route is already nearing completion, the project has faced various disputes since construction officially began in March 2024.
