Soldiers from Sector 7 of Operation Enduring Peace have broken up an arms trafficking ring in Kaduna State, securing a significant supply of illegal firearms. The mission was launched on July 13, 2026, following intelligence reports about a shipment moving from Jos, Plateau State, toward Niger State.
During a morning inspection at the Samaru Checkpoint in Zangon Kataf, troops stopped an ash-colored Mercedes-Benz. A detailed search of the vehicle uncovered three homemade AK-47 rifles and four submachine guns hidden inside. One individual tried to flee during the encounter and was wounded by gunfire; he is currently being treated at the Sector 7 Medical Centre in Kafanchan.
Initial investigations suggest the weapons originated from two dealers in Jos and were meant for a buyer in Niger State. The Army stated that this operation highlights its dedication to ending the flow of illegal weapons and protecting national stability. Military officials continue to call on citizens to report criminal activity to help maintain security.
