The Gboko Area Traditional Council has requested that security forces step up their efforts to combat the increasing number of child abductions in the region. During a meeting held on Thursday with the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, the local leaders pledged their full support for enhanced community policing initiatives.
Led by the Ter Gboko, HRH Gabriel Gbanongun Shosum, the traditional rulers discussed the recent spike in kidnappings. Chief Shosum praised the police for their recent success in apprehending suspects involved in these crimes, including a woman accused of taking a newborn from the Comprehensive Health Clinic in Gboko. The traditional leader has ordered that all detained suspects be moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for formal prosecution.
Furthermore, Chief Shosum has ensured that the victimized mother receives medical support and care. This collaborative effort between local leaders and law enforcement is intended to improve safety for all residents. Local citizens expressed hope that these combined security measures will restore peace and allow parents to feel secure again. Attempts to reach the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Orchia Aondogwu, for comment were unsuccessful.
