Nigerian Army Commissions 3,000 New Soldiers in Ebonyi to Enhance National Defense

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu oversaw the graduation of over 3,000 soldiers in Ebonyi State, urging them to maintain professionalism while the government works to strengthen national security.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, the Chief of Army Staff, recently presided over the graduation of more than 3,000 soldiers at the Depot Nigerian Army in Amasiri-Edda, Ebonyi State. During the ceremony, he emphasized the importance of professional conduct, loyalty, and discipline as the graduates transition into active duty.

Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Appolonia Anele, stated that this influx of new personnel is a key component of the federal government’s strategy to bolster security across the nation. This event follows similar successful training exercises held in Zaria and Osogbo, signaling a broader effort to expand military capacity.

During his address, General Shaibu highlighted that the intense training regimen has equipped these soldiers to confront the complexities of contemporary security threats. He reminded the new recruits that the state has made a substantial investment in their preparation and expects them to demonstrate bravery and unwavering allegiance to the Constitution.

The establishment of the Amasiri-Edda training facility was identified by the Army leadership as a strategic move to improve human resource development and training infrastructure. The Chief of Army Staff took a moment to thank the instructors and staff for their dedication to preparing soldiers for active operations.

Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, expressed his gratitude for the presence of the depot, noting that it has provided a significant boost to local economic activity and regional security. He pledged to maintain a close partnership with the military to ensure long-term stability. The event concluded with a formal parade and the distribution of awards to the most distinguished recruits.
