The Nigeria Police Force has executed extensive operations across 13 states and the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in the apprehension of 112 suspects and the recovery of various weapons and illicit materials. These efforts were designed to dismantle criminal networks involved in banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, and sexual violence.
Abuja served as a primary focus, where police raids across 11 divisions led to 87 arrests, with authorities seizing knives and illegal drugs. In Delta State, officers targeted a cult hideout, arresting eight individuals and confiscating locally made firearms and ammunition. Additional arrests in the state included a suspect accused of repeatedly abusing an 11-year-old.
Investigations in Akwa Ibom led to the discovery of a shallow grave containing the remains of 21-year-old Emmanuel Iboro Effiong, resulting in the arrest of four suspects. Meanwhile, Oyo police detained three robbers following an incident in Ibadan, while authorities in Kebbi neutralised a kidnapper during an operation involving the tragic murder of a local government official.
Other significant actions occurred in Ogun, where two men were arrested for sexual offences, and in Sokoto, where officers successfully rescued two hostages. Anambra police are currently looking into the death of a student reportedly struck by a teacher, alongside the apprehension of three suspects linked to the abduction of financial service agents.
Despite the successes, the police reported challenging incidents, including an assault on officers in Jigawa and a fatal road accident in Kwara. Nationwide, the force recovered several firearms, ammunition, and a stolen vehicle while handling multiple homicide, robbery, and kidnapping investigations to bolster national safety.
