Shahin Ahmed recently shared a touching tribute to his seven-year-old son, Musa, who passed away a week after being pulled from the water at West Mersea. Musa was among six relatives from east London who faced dangerous conditions while visiting the Essex beach on July 22.
The incident also claimed the lives of 15-year-old Sameeha Rahman and her 41-year-old mother, Shelina, who drowned at the scene. Shahin Ahmed remembered his son as a joyful presence who had the unique ability to make everyone feel special. He noted that Musa possessed admirable qualities consistent with his faith.
Emergency responders were alerted to the situation at 17:35 BST. While bystanders attempted to assist, the victims were overwhelmed by an unusually powerful tide. Craig Bowe, a witness at the scene, managed to help Musa onto a rescue boat before he was transported to a London hospital. A vigil attended by approximately 100 people was held on Wednesday to honor the victims. Local authorities have announced plans to install new warning signage on the beach before the end of the summer.
