Nigeria Immigration Service suspends US visa application center operations

The Nigeria Immigration Service has indefinitely suspended OIS Services, the operator of its US visa application centers, requiring applicants to submit documents directly to Nigerian diplomatic missions.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially suspended the services of Online Integrated Solution (OIS), the firm responsible for operating visa application centers in the United States. This change, which began on July 1, was confirmed by Deputy Comptroller of Immigration Akinsola Akinlabi in an official release from Abuja.

As a result of this suspension, all individuals seeking travel visas to Nigeria—whether citizens or other travelers—must now submit their applications directly to the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, D.C., or the Consulates General located in New York and Atlanta. This mandate will continue indefinitely.

Akinlabi noted that this shift impacts physical submissions exclusively and does not apply to the nation’s e-Visa platform. Travelers may still utilize the official online portal for electronic visa processing. The NIS has implemented measures to manage this transition, ensuring that visa processing and issuance continue without disruption. Applicants are encouraged to monitor official government channels for further developments and updates regarding these procedures.
